Just thought you guys who dont know what forms there are, would like to know. There are 7 main forms of lightsaber combat. Many with their own unique styles and principles. Here are the forms.
Form I, Shi-Cho, Determination Form Known for it's simplicity and versatility, is one taught to most younglings of the jedi order before begining a padawanship. Though easy it is just the oposite when determining if one is a master at it, because most jedi use this form at one time or another it is deifficult to set a line between skilled and common skill. This form is not flashy in any particular area of combat but is used widly as a form to fall back on, in case nothing else seems to work.
Form II, Makashi, Contention Form This is a rarly seen fencing style of combat that uses swift movements and finesse to outdue the opponont and become the victor. This is mostly used when one intends to battle an opponent weilding a lightsaber, because this form speacializes in lightsaber combat, It is not something one should use when battleing against blasters or other ranged weaponry.
Form III, Soresu, Resilience Form This popular style of combat is meant to deflect incoming blaster fire. With the blaster easily the most used and favored of weaponry in the galaxy, many jedi tend to favor this style of combat, but this style is in no way prepared to engage in melee conflict, most uses are advised to fall back onto something else when entering into melee conflict.
Form IV, Ataru, Aggression Form This style is one of fast maneuvers meant to overpower your opponent and to force them into submitting either by will or by the sword. This form is commonly used in conjuntion with helping force abilities such as Enhance Ability to allow for a greater effect and to calm the fight as quickly as possible.
Form V, Shien/ Djem-So, Perseverance Form This form relies on turning an enemy's strength against them and then overpowering them. Commonly used to redirect blaster bolts whilst charging ahead to engage in melee combat. Some users of this form would argue that it provides a great offense to give the best defense whilst some would say that it provides a great defense to give the best offense.
Form VI, Niman, Moderation Form This is a consolidation of forms I, III, IV, and V. It is a widly used by Diplomatic force users nicknameing it the "Diplomat's Form" because it allows for the study of other things like diplomacy, politics, and negotiation.
Form VII, Juyo/Vaapad, Ferocity Form The Epitome of a melee combat style, and argueably the most toughest style to master. Juyo uses unpredictable movemnets to throw the opponont off gaurd and then to strike. This form is often pursued by blood thirsty sith lords and jedi who seem to always be in the heat of tough battles.
There are other forms of trained lightsaber combat but these are only given to certine individuals who display great RP skill. For the most part these are the styles you may use. If you feel you don't like any of them you may use a "Personal Stlye", it will not have any speacial effects, unless stated otherwise by an admin, and is only for you and people who you decide to teach.
